ICONS & SACRED ARCHITECTURE ART EXHIBIT: WORLD ARCHITECTURE DAY CELEBRATION

In celebration of World Architecture Day with the theme “Architecture_ Housing for All”. Marvalley had its first activity in the month of October by having an art exhibit entitled “Icons and Sacred Architecture”, by one of the renowned artists and architect of UAP, our very own Marvalley Past President Ar. Amado Tandoc, Jr. The works are composed of a series of paintings depicting Madonna and Child from different iconic churches in the country. Aside from ecclesiastical representations of the Holy Family, Ar. Amado also exhibited some of the landmarks in the Philippines.

According to Ar. Amado, aside from the nationwide celebration of the World Architecture Day, his works are also part of the celebration of Manan Month which was also the Feast of Our Lady of Rosary. These heritage churches are not just a representation of the country’s rich cultural and religious traditions, but also creates a sense of identity and serves as a safe haven just like houses where we live in. It also connotes how we should protect and preserve our heritage structure just like how we took care and keep our shelter intact and stable from the harshness of nature and human interventions.

The paintings are exhibited on the ground floor of the United Architects of the Philippines Headquarters, Quezon City from October 1-10, 2019.
