The opening remarks and the introduction to the guest speaker were led by Ar. Jasmin Grace Lee. Portem, uap (Architect's Role in the Protection of the Nations' Built Heritage) discussed how heritage conservation can shape society and how it can be the most sustainable method in creating a harmonious built environment.

The lecture introduced the concept of heritage and its vital role in human and societal development and establishes the role of architects in this specialized field of profession. The participants were noticed to be very attentive during the entire seminar proper as the speakers Ar. Busmente and Ar. Portem did an interesting presentation. After their talk several participants actively asked questions regarding the topic. The questions raised were about the challenges in the practice of conservation (responses from the speakers were priests and politicians, funding, and technical know-how) and the implication of community acceptance to the conservation process. An interesting question raised by the speakers to the participants on whether it is acceptable or not to move a heritage structure from its original environment, to which the participants gave their insight. The response of the speakers to their question was “if it was the last option”.
