DESIGN IDEAS ; SPA-INSPIRED BATHROOMS

Inspirations are always the driving force to any great design. It springs life to any space. It gives someone an idea and inspires them to create. It provides a personality that users of that space acclimate and live into.

Spas transport you to another environment without having to go very far. A relaxing space away from the hassle and bustle of life, where you can tune out and have a few minutes or hours of peace. But what if you could have that kind of space in your own home? With a few key design elements, you can transform your bathroom into your very own relaxing spa. Here are the inspirations:

  1. Remove The Clutter
Have you ever seen a messy spa? There’s a reason why you find them so relaxing: the lack of clutter does wonders to your brain which facilitates peace of mind. Remove the clutter from your bathroom and create an environment that looks and feels clean.

  1. Add Personality
Echo the design of your favorite spas by using color in an interesting way. Choose earth colored tones to create a more relaxing and calming effect and are a lot easier to maintain than sterile, white tiles. Take a cue from the ocean and use sandy tones paired with aqua hues. Or take in the simple Zen lines and create interesting forms that renew the senses.

  1. Quality Over Quantity
Invest in a good quality towels, bathmats and robes. It’ll make a difference right after you step out the shower and into a nice, fluffy towel.

  1. Small Upgrades
There is no need to change the entire of your bathroom. Instead, invest in a few small upgrades:  a better showerhead, ambient lighting, and a nicer, larger mirror.

  1. Sensuous Details
Consider having scented candles, a bouquet of flowers, wooden stands or containers, and some lotions and perfumes. It’s the little things that makes the difference and can make the space more inviting.

  1. Remove Labels
A bunch of half-empty shampoo and body wash bottles just adds to the visual clutter. Replace them with uniform containers, they fit well to space organizers and nicer to look at.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE 1ST GMM 2016

Welcome to another year for MARVALLEY.  It has been five years since I joined this prestigious chapter, and working with the chapter has opened my eyes to a whole new dimension as it showed me how Marvalley CARES for the community it serves.  How its members act as ONE that always BUILDS a reputable image for the architectural profession.  How it WORKS and CONSTRUCTS bridges that unite all affiliated fields to complete great tasks.  The qualities that made the chapter EVOLVE as one of the leading professional organization under the United Architects of the Philippines.

It is no secret that everything around us changes rapidly, especially the immensely challenging world of Architecture. And our organization needs to rise to these challenges to sustain and enhance our commitment and contributions to the growth of our profession, both locally and internationally.  We can only do this if we work as a TEAM.  As the famous philosopher Vince Lombradi once said: “The achievements of an organization are the combined efforts of each individual.”  Thus, this year, we will go under the banner GO TEAM Marvalley:  Globally Oriented and Technically Equipped Architects for the new Millennium.

Right now, I am honored and pleased to assume the duties and responsibilities of the 27th President of Marikina Valley Chapter, a chapter with multiple awards and a Hall of Famer under the UAP. I’m looking forward to all the opportunities and challenges that come with being the Chapter President. I believe with the help of the general membership, the past presidents, our new Board of Officers, and the untiring support of our sponsors and partners in the industry, we are bound to accomplish great tasks.  As the old adage goes, “if you want to go fast, go alone. But if you want to go farther, go together.”
Cheers and best of luck to us all.  Together let us GO TEAM MARVALLEY.
