Last June 13, 2019,
the City Government of Marikina under the leadership of its Mayor Marcelino Teodoro,
conducted a public hearing for the 10-year Proposed Comprehensive Land
Use Plan and Zoning of Marikina City. Through Councilor Donn Favis, UAP Marikina
Valley Chapter was invited to take part in this important milestone for future
development ¡n the city. As an organization, the chapter held responsible for the built
environment most especially on how these ordinances will be improved and sustain the needs of
the communities ¡n the succeeding years. Aside from the chapter, different
stakeholders were also being part of the dialogue such as homeowners associations,
barangay captains, LGU’s, and allied professionals in the field of engineering, environmental planning, and sciences. The chapter also promotes the procurement of
architectural permits, which ensures these ordinances and laws to be implemented the
proposed projects ¡n the Marikina City.
The Proposed CLUP
and Zoning of Marikina City is divided into five
major development strategies:
1. Healthier, Livelier
and Community-Centered Citizenry by preserving
residential areas, upgrading high-density zones, and
creating 9 government satellite offices place in
different strategic locations in Marikina;
2.
Revitalization of Heritage and Culture by creating and
improving the existing cultural heritage zones and promotes
tourism development in the city;
3. Guided
Commercialization and Development which strengthens
the existing Central Business District and to
standardize the commercial zones in different sites in
Marikina;
4. Improvement and Provision of Vital
Infrastructure which includes flood mitigation projects
and transport management;
5. Green Growth and
Low-Emission Development that would promote green
design solutions in construction development , proposed Marikina Ikot E-vehicles, River buffer, and urban drainage, parks/open space improvements.
