WINTER FROZENLAND: Marvalley White Christmas Party


United Architects of the Philippines Marikina Valley Chapter during the WINTER FROZENLAND: Marvalley White Christmas Party held last December 13, 2019 at CVJ Clubhouse and Food Catering in New Marikina Subdivision, Marikina City.


It’s the time of the year again when everyone celebrates Christmas with their friends and love ones, while the United Architects of the Philippines Marikina Valley Chapter had their year-end Christmas party with the theme: WINTER FROZENLAND: Marvalley White Christmas Party. The event was held last December 13, 2019 at CVJ Clubhouse and Food Catering in New Marikina Subdivision, Marikina City. Chapter members, families, guests, and sponsors were happy as they enjoyed fun games, raffle, and entertainment.


The party started with an invocation led by Ar. Manifelmo Dacanay. While having a sumptuous dinner, the crowd was awe with the performance of Luminous Band’s rendition of “Let It Go” from the movie Frozen. After the dinner, the kids together with their parents enjoyed the set of games presented by Ar. Roger and Ar. Caroline Victorino and accompanied by a minor raffle draw.

After the games and entertainment, and AVP of the upcoming “LINGKOD MARIKENO: Marvalley Outreach Program” was played while receiving some donations from the members. It was followed by an inspirational message from the guests such as the Regional District A5 Director Ar. Reginald Yaneza who sends his congratulatory message to the success of the event; Chairman of Committee on General Welfare Ar. Catherine Garcia together with Ar. Cezar Dizon had introduced the UAP 2020 Planner to the members; NCA 2019 Chairman Ar. Rosario Roxas was also grateful for the support rendered by Marvalley to NCA; and CONEX 2020 Director Ar. Armando Pamintuan reported the updates and what would be expected to the upcoming Construction Convention next year.

The male and female members and the guest was also awarded as Best in Costume that night namely: Ar. Loreta C. Villame (Best Female Costume), Ar. Russel San Jose (Best male Costume), and Ar. Rosario Roxas (Best in Costume Guest). After the awarding ceremony, the members had enjoyed the exchange gift activity. It was followed by the presentation of certificate of appreciation to BOYSEN PHILIPPINES INC. as Major Industry Partner and Trade Sponsor.


Before the major raffle draw, Chapter President Ar. Ranier Biglang-awa delivered his closing remarks and thanks the sponsor who supported the event such as: MEGAPACIFIC, CW HOME DEPOT, TIMBERPRO ,FENESTRAM, DN GROUP OF COMPANIES, CROWN PIPES, JACKBILT, KAWARA ROOF CENTER, AUGUST QUALITY FLOORING SPECIALIST, LATICRETE, and QUEENSWAY. Ar.  Allain Josef is the lucky winner of the 43” Smart TV courtesy by BOYSEN, and a group photo opportunity capped the whole event.

RDA5 Architects’ Business Summit


It was a fruitful, meaningful and successful event as UAP Regional District A5, in collaboration with Committee on General Welfare and Committee on Internal Affairs had their first ever Architects’ Business Summit 1.0 held last November 30, 2019, at Joy Nostalg Hotel in Ortigas Center Pasig City. The jam-packed event was attended by different A5 members and from other chapters; guest from the National Board; District A5 Council Members; industry partners; guests of honor; and distinct and renowned resource speakers.

The summit was divided into two parts, the morning and afternoon sessions which comprises of series of seminars and workshop. After the National Anthem, UAP March, and UAP Credo, UAP Greenhills Chapter President Ar. Minerva C. Villarosa led the invocation. It was followed by the welcome remarks from the Regional District A5 Director Ar. Reginald Yaneza and opening remarks from Executive Director of Committee on Internal Affairs Ar. Corazon Tandoc.

For the first CPD Seminar, Committee on General Welfare Chairman Ar. Catherine Garcia introduced the first speaker. CPD Seminar 1 with the topic: “Authenticity: A Global Practice” was presented by a self-made and well-renowned practitioner, Ar. Royal Christopher Pineda. His presentation focusses on architectural practice and how Filipino practitioners could meet the expectations of its clients globally. He pinpoints some important aspects of the architects’ services such as collaboration with different well-known designers and industry partners; authenticity and knowing the true character of Filipino architecture; and promoting the architecture profession with pride and confidence. He also discussed practices in entrepreneurial skills globally and the advantages and benefits of authenticity to the architects in the field of business. After the presentation, a token and certificate of appreciation were given by the organizing committee to Ar. Pineda.

After the 1st speaker, Ar. Reginald Yaneza introduced the next presenter. Mr. Jacinto C. Ng, Jr., a real estate magnate-social entrepreneur, presented his topic: “Leadership- How to be a Great Effective Leader, in Business”. His lecture focuses on social business leadership and CHRISTITUDE core values of Commitment, Happiness, Responsibility, Integrity, Simplicity, Tenacity, Unity, Dynamism, and Excellence. He also presented statistics and social business paradigm for homeless communities. Aside from the presentation, and AVP was played featuring the teaser of “Tagumpay na Nagniningning”, a film by Direk Paul Soriano in partnership with Joy Nostalg Group. After the presentation, a token and certificate of appreciation were given by the organizing committee to Mr. Ng.

Following the morning session is the lunch break wherein the delegates had given a chance to have networked with the industry partners in the exhibition area. The organizing committees also awarded the plaques and token of appreciation to the sponsors for supporting another milestone project of Regional District A5.


For the afternoon session, Deputy District Director Ar. Roger Victorino introduced one of the Guests of Honor, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Ma. Alegria S. Limjoco. Ms. Limjoco congratulates the UAP for bringing such events and to promote the collaboration of architects to the business world. She also mentioned the rapid changes in the field of architecture which redefines the role of architects beyond the construction industry. After her inspirational message, UAP Marikina Valley Chapter President Ar. Ranier Biglang-awa had introduced the next Guests of Honor from the Department of Trade and Industry Region 4-A, Provincial Director Mercedes A. Parreno. Ms. Parenno congratulates the organizing committee for having such an event and to presents current trends in industry that would help architects in developing their professional skills and services for their clients. The two Guests of Honor received a token and certificate of appreciation given by the organizing committee.


For the last speaker in the afternoon session, Ar. Catherine Garcia introduced the 3rd Speaker Ar./Enp. Ronnie R. Yumang, UAP Secretary-General, with the topic: “The Architects’ Stand on Business Today and Tomorrow”. His presentation focusses on entrepreneurial skills of each architect and how it empowers their minds and connects their businesses to other entrepreneurs/s; discussing main challenges of architects through a workshop, and defining different business models that could be a tool for architects’ entrepreneurial services. Right after his presentation, a token and certificate of appreciation were given by the organizing committee to Ar. Yumang.

Ar. Roger Victorino gave closing remarks and presented the organizing committee behind the success of the event. It followed by a video message from the National President Ar. Benjamin K. Panganiban and the Same Day Edit (SDE) video during the whole day activities. A group photo opportunity capped the whole event.

RDA5 Business Summit Preparations and Council Meeting


Regional District A5 under the leadership of District A5 Director Ar. Reginald Yaneza, together with the chapter presidents, is in full force for the planning and preparation for the upcoming Architect’s Business Summit. The project is in collaboration with the Committee on Internal Affairs headed by Executive Director Ar. Corazon Tandoc and Committee on General Welfare headed by its Chairman Ar. Catherine Garcia.

Last November 10, District A5 Director Ar. Reginald Yaneza, Committee on General Welfare Chairman Ar. Catherine Garcia, and Marikina Valley Chapter President Ar. Ranier Biglang-awa went to Binondo Manila to canvass items needed for souvenir kit which includes sling bag, bag tag, ID, and other important items needed for the Architects’ Business Summit. The group had a fun time and enjoyed while working with the preparation.


After the UAP Bagumbayan Chapter chartering ceremony, the council had another council meeting last November 27 at Coffee Bean at the Podium to discuss the program flow, the final list of the delegates, speakers’ profile, venue, souvenir, ingress/egress, and documentation. The group shared their thoughts about the seminar and delegate the different tasks to the organizing committees. It was also the first time that UAP Pasig Kapitolyo had joined the council meeting.





Last November 29 at Joy Nostalg Hotel, the council had their final council meeting and preparation for the summit. Chapter presidents are helping hand in finalizing the certificates, attendance sheets, powerpoint presentations, and other important details needed for the event. It was also a great way for the council to enjoy each other and unite into one common goal: to work and to have fun! The council is now ready for the summit and hoping for a meaningful event for everyone.

UAP Bagumbayan Charter Presentation and Inauguration Ceremonies


It was another milestone for UAP Marikina Valley Chapter to be the sponsor of the newest chapter of UAP, the UAP Bagumbayan Chapter. For the past 34 years, UAP hosted 3 chapters under Regional District A5: 1. UAP Rizal East Chapter through the efforts of Past President Ar. Angel E. Doria; 2. UAP Rizal Kalayaan 100 Chapter under the leadership of Past President Ar. Remigio G. Abello; and 3. UAP Bagumbayan Chapter with the help of Immediate Past President Ar. Loreta Villame and led by host Chapter President Ar. Ranier L. Biglang-awa. The chapter was approved by the National Board of Directors under the leadership of National President Ar. Benjamin K. Panganiban Jr. last October 7, 2019 during the National Conference of Architects in Koronadal City, South Cotabato.


The chartering was held last November 26, 2019 at Valle Verde Country Club in Pasig City. The program was started by an invocation, followed by the Philippine National Anthem, UAP March, and the Architects’ Credo.  Ar. Robert Simbol of UAP Batangas Lakeshore Chapter and National President Ar. Benjamin Panganiban Jr. served as Guests of Honor and gave their inspirational messages for the charter members and officers. 




For the chartering rites, Regional District A5 Director Ar. Reginald Yaneza presented the history of the new chapter. It was then followed by the roll call of chapter members conducted by Ar. Vanessa Ledesma, Chairman of Committee on Membership. Ar. Benjamin Panganiban Jr. together with Executive Director of Commission on Internal Affairs Ar. Corazon Tandoc and Deputy Chairman of Committee on Chapter Organization Ar. Precila Aterrado, presented the charter members and officers. The Charter Preamble was read by UAP Secretary General Ar. Ronnie R. Yumang. It was followed by the lighting of UAP Candle and Charter Paper signing. The chartering rites were ended by the presentation of UAP Flag and UAP Chapter Banner and Kit by Ar. Corazon Tandoc.


After the chartering rites, it was followed by the charging and induction of charter officers and members led by Ar. Benjamin Panganiban Jr., Ar. Corazon Tandoc, and Ar. Ronnie R. Yumang. It was then followed by pinning rites were the guests congratulates the newly chartered chapter. Regional District A5 Director Ar. Reginald and Deputy District Director Ar. Roger Victorino led the acceptance of gavel with the Charter President Ar. Romeo Camacho, followed by his inaugural address.


Presentation of token of appreciation was given to the guests of honor and to UAP Marikina Valley Chapter, received by Ar. Ranier Biglang-awa as the chapter host. A photo opportunity capped the whole event.

RDA5 supports UAP Pasig Kapitolyo Chapter Chartering Ceremonies


Regional District A5 headed by its District Director Ar. Reginald Yaneza supported its newest chapter member in the council, UAP Pasig Kapitolyo Chapter led by its Charter President Ar. Joseph Manreo J. Aral.  The chartering ceremonies were held at Marco Polo Hotel in Ortigas last November 15, 2019. It was attended by the UAP National Board headed by the UAP National President Ar. Benjamin Panganiban, Executive Directors and Committee Chairman, and some Chapter Presidents.


Ar. Reginald Yaneza gave a brief history of the chapter on how they were started and where did their chapter name and logo derived. After the presentation of charter officers and members, a ceremony was observed when the chapter lighted the UAP Candle. It was followed by the signing of the charter certificate; presentation of UAP flag and chapter banner; unveiling the official chapter logo and coffee table book, and a toast to sum up the ceremonial rites.



The last part of the program was the induction and pinning proper wherein the charter officers and members were inducted. A testimonial and closing ceremony was delivered by Ar. Joseph Manreo Aral; and a token of appreciation were awarded to the guests and sponsors. A group photo opportunity capped the whole event.

UAP RDA5 Promotes “Get an Architect” advocacy at GGV


Last November 13, 2019, UAP Regional District A5 headed by its Regional District Director Ar. Reginald Yaneza visited and promoted the UAP professional advocacy campaign through its slogan “For Your Plans and Designs, GET AN ARCHITECT!” at the set of Gandang Gabi Vice (GGV) in ABS-CBN.  The group had a chance to promote through mass media and capture more attention from the public. They had a photo opportunity with the grand winners of Ginoong Pilipinas 2019: 



Aside from the Ginoong Pilipinas grand winners, they also supported by one of the guests of GGV, top3 Tawag ng Tanghalan winner MOR disk jockey & singer Ms. Ana Ramsey. According to Ms. Ana, she was amazed by the works of Architects, and she was in full support of the advocacy of the UAP in promoting the architecture profession.

There also at the GGV taping, were of course, bankable host & comedian-actor Vice Ganda, celebrity guests American Idol 1st runner-up international recording/performing artist Ms. Jessica Sanchez, PBB Otso Teen winner Fumiya, Tawag ng Tanghalan top3 finalists DJ Ana Ramsey (3rd), actress-singer Ms. Roxanne Barcelo (2nd), and comedienne singer grand champion Ms. Ethel Booba.

At the online pre-show, Ar. Reginald Yaneza had an opportunity to sing in front of the audience. He got a chance to promote the UAP as a professional organization and its professional advocacy campaign GET AN ARCHITECT to the raving audience and artists in attendance right after his performance. Chad and Pepay, stand-up comedians, were then both fast to quip to expressly agree to the message conveyed by our GET AN ARCHITECT slogan and supports the advocacy by encouraging the public to consult the right professionals for their plans and designs.


There also in the ABS-CBN premises were PBB Otso Teens Rhys & Ali, Andre Brouillette & Lou Yanong, theater actor & producer Mr. Karlo Orosa, and TV news & current affairs host Mr. Gus Abelgas.

UAPGA Rizal East Chapter Log Book Filling Seminar


The United Architects of the Philippines Graduate Auxiliary Rizal East Chapter celebrated their induction of officers and members and a series of seminars entitled “Eminence: A Career Rendezvous” held last November 9, 2019, at The 72ND Events Center in Pasig City. The program started with an invocation followed by the national anthem. The welcoming remark was delivered by Mr. Alexis Gabriel O. Doroteo as their Chapter President.


After the opening ceremony, it was followed by the seminar proper focusing on Branding, Business, and Building Talk. The first presenter is Mr. Ruel Mikhael Benzon, Assistant Unit Manager-PRU Life U.K.-ASLIA. His topic was about Financial Wellness which focusses on how an individual could invest for their health insurance in the future. He also tackled how these future architects could come up different financial strategies of earning and saving money for the future. After his talk, Mr. Alvin V. Seneca Sr., President of Seneca Construction Corporation and The 72nd Events Center shared his experiences in a Career Branding and Success Talk. Mr. Alvin pinpoints key important aspects of being a successful individual in the field of construction; these are Courage, Passion, and Humility. He also shared his success and failures in his professional work and services, and how he resolved these challenges in life. Lastly, is a Log Book Filling Seminar presented by yours truly to those who will take their Architecture Licensure Examination in 2020.  The topic is about the dos and don’ts of accomplishing and recording the diversified experience into their logbook. Questions and other information were raised during the seminar and some advice for the upcoming licensure examination was shared with the audience.  Some of the future architects were interested in how they could further improve their diversified experience until they fully 









ready to take the ALE. A token of appreciation was awarded by the UAPGA officers to all the speakers. 



Following the seminar is the formal chapter assembly by having their oath-taking and pinning ceremony. Ar. Conrad Casinsinan, UAP Rizal East Chapter, preside the turnover rights of the outgoing and incoming chapter president of UAPGA East Chapter. It was then followed by the oath-taking and pinning of the new set of officers and members. Ar. Conrad also sends his congratulatory message to all members and guests and encourages future architects to be active and to support the United Architects of the Philippines. A certificate of appreciation was awarded to the sponsors and guests and a group photo opportunity capped the whole event. 








CITY LINIS: MARVALLEY CLEAN-UP DRIVE AND PEST CONTROL ACTIVITY


The United Architects of the Philippines Marikina Valley Chapter, in partnership with Timberpro, had their “CITY LINIS: Marvalley Clean-up Drive and Pest Control Activity” at Iwahig, Barangay Tumana, in Marikina City last November 9, 2019. The group assembled at Barangay Hall of Tumana at 7:00 am together with the street sweepers who assisted the chapter going to Iwahig. Timberpro prepared the chemicals to be use for fogging and the leaflets which would be given to the residents.

At Iwahig, the street sweepers started to clean the sidewalks and streets, while the residents are helping them to fix their garbage and trash bins. Barangay officials are helping to secure the safety of the people while having their activity. Marvalley officers and members are giving some leaflets and informed the residents about the community service dengue prevention campaign. Timberpro also started their fogging activity and try to reach every corner of their community. It was a productive day for everyone as they participated and contributed their time and effort to the cleanliness and safety of the whole community.



After the clean-up drive and pest control activity, the group return to barangay hall to have their snacks after a very tiring day. UAP Marikina Valley Chapter presented a certificate of appreciation to Timberpro for their generous support and contribution in strengthening and promotion of the architecture profession through their Corporate and Social Responsibility or CSR Projects. The group also had their photo opportunity together with all the residents to capped the whole event.
